HAIVE KNIVES was created with the focus on providing beautiful, functional and extremely high quality knives. Each knife is a work of art, handmade and one-of-a-kind. They are so much more than “just a knife”, many will become heirlooms and help create memories that can be passed on for generations to come.

My passion for knives was born when i went to Fairfax Virginia to stay with relatives for the summer when I was a kid. My uncle BIff, who was a knife, pen and jewelry maker was always enthusiastic to let me help while he shared his expertise with me. Through this exposure I developed a passion for cutting tools early in my life. At the end of the summer he sent me back to my parents in Austin Texas with an assortment of knife blanks and a hatchet to work on by myself. Little did I know the gift he had given me or how it would affect my life in later years. As I grew into adulthood I pursued my other passion as a tattoo artist, maintaining that career for several years, until injuries from a car accident left me incapable of gripping a tattoo machine for multiple hours at a time. During the recovery process of healing from many broken bones and surgeries, I was left with a lot of time to think about my next journey. Up to this point I had only made a handful of knives as a hobby but the passion was there so, HAIVE KNIVES (minus the name) was born. Haive, pronounced as in beehive was chosen for a name as a dedication to my wife Sharon for her fondness of bees. I couldn’t do this without her patience and support. With that I’d like to thank everyone who has supported my journey thus far and I would also like to remember my first supporter in the knife world, my late uncle William “Biff” Mahe.
